This beautiful home, owned by Ashley Keeley, was built in 1915 and is full of historical charm along with modern upgrades! It will be obvious to visitors that the home has undergone several additions throughout the last 108 years, including a back bedroom, kitchen, and turning a back porch in to a hallway leading to what is now the back deck. You can see the original exterior in the rear area of home, which only adds to its unique character and charm. A small tornado hit the home approximately 20 years ago. The only damage was to the front porch, which was then renovated and now boasts an inviting sunroom! They say a tornado never strikes the same place twice, but that isn't true for this historic home! The EF-4 tornado that struck Newnan in March of 2021 caused over $100k worth of damage! Ashley and her two children were home when the tornado hit. They took shelter in the center room of the house while their windows were shattering and significant rain pouring in from the ceiling creating "waterfalls" in some areas of the home. The interior room that acts as a hallway, has now been turned in to what Ashley, the owner of home, calls the "Art Gallery". She wanted to mask the scary memories of that room and make it a happy place full of her children's photos and artwork. It's now one of Ashley's most adored treasures. The ceilings, walls, windows, siding, roof, kitchen, and rear bathroom, have all been renovated and/or replaced. While working to restore the floors throughout the home, layers upon layers of various flooring were pulled up only to discover, and much to Ashley's delight, original pine wood floors that had never been finished! It was decided that instead of a new floor installation, the century-old hardwoods would be restored to their original beauty! Several large and beautiful trees were also lost in the tornado; however, Ashley decided to create a backyard pool oasis which now receives sunlight from sun-up to sun-down and is very much enjoyed by the family. The only remaining tasks on the to-do list is to remodel the front en-suite bathroom which has very much a "70's feel, very pink, and desperately needs updating", says Ashley. And of course, continuing to beautify the backyard with new plants each season. Ashley is the owner of Lillian Gardens, a special events historic venue, located on Greenville St. in downtown Newnan. She loves to host and entertain and feels every guest should always be welcomed with a fun beverage! To keep her tradition, you will be welcomed with a festive cocktail or mocktail upon entry of her home. Please enjoy!
